Pet Consumer Rights law in buying Standard Poodles from us here in MN, as well as any other breeder in MN, or any other state — check their state laws — for your protection. Please feel free to send any friends or "pet website owners" to this site for their awareness. I would have appreciated it. These things can be hard to find (among billions of web data).
I honor all previous contracts to this updated law.
Please have a dictionary at hand.
Notes to my Standard Poodles customers for further clarification:
Assure you read through the Pet Lemon Law definitions.
Subd. 1. (a) …USDA license number…
I am not a kennel as defined in the MN state law, therefore do not have this license. Some kennels may call me a "Back Yard Breeder," yet my vet says "No Way!" I attend canine classes to continue learning of health and care; the best one thus far was a two day symposium at the Iowa State Animal University. My standard poodles live with us in our home with doggy doors for access to the outdoor parks.

Subd. 4. Health.
No animal may be offered for sale by a broker or pet dealer to a retail purchaser until the animal has been examined by a veterinarian…
In making a down payment before a pup’s birth, TI hereby notes your "INTENT" to purchase one of our pups. TI sends this contract to be filled in with your "INTENT" to buy. Your individual puppy/ies is "offered for sale" to you only after:
a) TI has a vet examine each pup within three days of birth. It is the time frame in which tails are docked and dew claws removed.
b) At 6 weeks of age the pups are examined again when they receive their first set of vaccinations at which time you may decide on your pup.
c) TI "offers the pups for sale" now at 6 weeks of age according to your down payment "intent" order 1, 2, 3...
d) Upon the decision of which pup is yours, full payment is due. TI will only sign the contract of sale after you have read through this law and signed it according to Subd. 10 below. TI then sends a priority mail package to you containing your pup's sale contract and other data.
Your pup has now been examined by a vet twice. If flying, your pet is examined a third time for certification of health to fly.The MN Pet Law Rights state one examination. Know I do my best to provide healthy happy standard poodle pups to you, my customers.
Subd. 10. Statement of Consumer Rights.
Every pet dealer shall provide the retail purchaser a written notice of rights, which shall be signed by the purchaser, acknowledging that the purchaser has reviewed the notice, and signed by the pet dealer certifying the accuracy of the information contained in it. A signed copy shall be retained by the pet dealer and one given to the purchaser…
I have updated my contract 12/9/08 accordingly noting I cannot sign the contract until you have read and signed off on knowing your rights.
